Oats Pan Cake - A Healthy Recipe for a Healthy You
Want to cut down on calories and add some fiber to your diet?
Here’s an interesting recipe for health conscious friends - Oats Pancake or Oats Idlis.
Oats is rich in minerals, vitamins and proteins and this enhances the high nutritive value of the pancakes (Indian idlis) without compromising on its delicious taste.
Oats Pancake – Ingredients:
2 cups roasted and oats, 1 cup carrots, 2 chillies, a teaspoon of mustard seeds, chana dal (chick pea dal), black gram (urad dal), a bunch of coriander, pinch of hing, 2 cups curd.
Preparation:
1. Grind oats to a slightly coarse powder
2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, chick pea dal, black gram, and green chillies. Mix well and saute until light brown; Add chopped or grated carrots and coriander leaves. Combine all the ingredients thoroughly along with a pinch of salt and cook for a minute or two to make a mixture.
3. Let the mixture cool down for few minutes before adding into the batter.
4. Make pan cake batter with oats powder, a pinch of fruit salt and fried mixture.
5. Now add the required quantity of curd and mix thoroughly. Add the prepared mixture to the oats batter.
6. Prepare a medium thick batter and leave it covered for few minutes.
7. Now grease the moulds with clarified butter and pour the prepared oats pancake batter in each mould and put it in the steamer.
8. Steam for about 15 minutes over medium flame.
Healthy and tasty oats pancakes are done. Serve with chilly sauce or the Indian sambar (made from healthy lentils) and Indian coconut chutney.
