5 drinking habits to avoid if you are planning to shed kilos

When it comes to losing weight, we scrutinise every food that we put on our plate.

Right from calorie count to the portion size, we evaluate well before eating to stay on track. One thing we often forget is that not only food but beverages we take in a day have a similar impact on our weight loss plan.

So, when following a weight loss diet, you need to equally pay attention to the drink you have in a day. Missing on this crucial part of a healthy diet can easily sabotage your weight loss goal.

1. Packed fruit juices

Fresh fruit juice is rich in vitamins and minerals but packed fruit juice found in the supermarket is loaded with sugar that can easily sabotage your weight loss journey.

2. Sweet tea

 Green tea, black tea or any kind of herbal tea all are good for health, except the packed sweetened iced tea available in the market. A bottle of sweetened iced tea contains from 200 to 450 calories that can easily wreck your diet. Look for healthier alternatives and have homemade tea.

3. Energy drinks

Sports drinks or energy drinks are loaded with sugar and flavouring agents that can lead to inflammation in the body. Coconut water. infused water or freshly squeezed fruit are much better options.

4. Alcohol intake

Most alcohols are high in calories and when you add cold drinks to them the calories count increases further. 1 pint of beer contains 208, which is enough to throw you off the track. Whiskey, tequila and gin contain comparatively fewer calories. Stick to one 1 drink a week.

​5. Insufficient intake of water

Drinking enough water is necessary for all, especially where you are trying to shed kilos. Water helps to flush out toxins from the body, boost metabolism and prevent unhealthy munching. So, try to drink at least 2 to 3 litres of water every day.
